Show selected filters

Overview

Selected filters (also called filter parameters or active filter tags) show visitors which facets are applied—e.g. Category: Shirts Price: $20–$50—often with a click to remove each one.

This improves clarity on busy shop pages and complements the Reset button.

Enable on Filter Posts (panel level)

  1. Select the Filter Posts block (parent container).
  2. Open block settings → Filter parameters or Show selected filters (label varies by version).
  3. Enable Show filter parameters.
  4. Optional: set Container selector or placement if your theme needs a specific mount point for chips.

Selected filters typically render above the loop or below the filter panel title.

Enable on individual Filter Posts Item blocks

Each filter item can opt in or out:

  1. Select a Filter Posts Item.
  2. Find Show in filter parameters / Show filter parameters.
  3. Set to Yes for facets that should appear as chips; No for hidden or internal filters.

Items with no_filter_params class behavior are excluded from the chip list.

What appears in each chip

Chips usually show:

  • Filter label (e.g. Category)
  • Selected value (term name, price range, search text)
  • Remove control (×) to clear that facet without resetting everything

Removing a chip triggers the same AJAX update as changing the filter control.

Styling

Chips use plugin default styles (.filter-param-item). Customize with:

  • Block editor Typography and Colors on Filter Posts where available
  • Theme CSS targeting .filter-param-item and .param-{slug} classes

URL sync

When URL sync is enabled, chips stay in sync with the address bar. Removing a chip updates the URL query string. See URL sync and shareable filters.
