Plugin Settings
Global behaviour for WPEnhanced Ajax Filter Blocks is configured in WordPress admin under WP Enhanced → WPEnhanced Ajax Filter Blocks. Block-level settings in the Gutenberg editor override or extend these defaults per page.
These settings apply to the Gutenberg block plugin only—not Divi modules or other builders.
Opening plugin settings
- Log in to WordPress admin.
- Go to WP Enhanced → WPEnhanced Ajax Filter Blocks.
- Browse tabs or sections for each settings group.
- Click Save after changes.
If the menu entry is missing, confirm the free plugin is activated and your user role has manage_options (typically Administrator).
Settings overview
| Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| General | Site-wide toggles—URL sync, scripts, Select2, debug options |
| Caching & performance | Transient cache, expiry, Redis/Memcached, flush cache |
| WooCommerce | Stock visibility defaults, catalog behaviour |
| Advanced | Developer-oriented options and compatibility flags |
Exact labels may vary slightly by plugin version. Pro adds sections documented in Pro settings.
General settings
URL sync
Enable Synchronize filters with URL (or equivalent) so active filters write to query parameters in the address bar. Required for shareable filter links.
When disabled, filters work on the page but URLs do not update—bookmarks will not preserve filter state.
Select2
Enable Select2 globally to load the enhanced dropdown library on pages using filter blocks. Individual Filter Posts Item blocks must also enable Select2 per select field.
See Select2.
Scripts and compatibility
Options may include:
- Loading plugin scripts only on pages that contain Ajax Filter blocks (recommended for performance)
- Minified asset toggles for debugging
- REST API-related compatibility flags for hosts that restrict endpoints
If filters work in the editor but not on the front end, verify REST API access and script loading here before debugging blocks.
Caching and performance
Transient caching stores AJAX filter results temporarily so repeated filter combinations load faster.
Key options:
- Enable cache — Master toggle for transient caching
- Cache expiry — How long cached results remain valid
- Cache type — WordPress transients (default), Redis, or Memcached
- Flush cache — Clear all plugin cache entries after bulk imports or catalog changes
Full guide: Caching and performance.
WooCommerce settings
When WooCommerce is active, additional defaults may appear:
- Stock visibility — Whether out-of-stock products appear in loops and filter counts
- Catalog-wide behaviour inherited by Filter Posts Stock visibility mode unless overridden per block
Product-specific filter setup: WooCommerce integration.
Pro settings
WPEnhanced Ajax Filter Blocks Pro adds settings such as Catalog Index, license management, and Pro-only performance tools. See Pro settings after installing Pro.
Relationship to block settings
| Global setting | Block-level counterpart |
|---|---|
| URL sync | Filter Posts synchronize (Pro, multi-panel) |
| Select2 | Filter Posts Item → Enable Select2 |
| Cache | No block override—site-wide |
| Stock visibility | Filter Posts → Stock visibility mode |
Configure global defaults first, then fine-tune individual pages in the block editor.
After changing settings
- Save plugin settings.
- Flush cache if you changed caching or imported many products/posts.
- Hard-refresh a filtered page (or use private browsing) to bypass browser cache.
- Purge full-page cache plugins (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed, Cloudflare) if results look stale.
Troubleshooting settings
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| URL never updates | URL sync disabled in General |
| Select2 not styled | Global Select2 off; theme CSS conflict |
| Stale filter results after import | Flush Ajax Filter cache |
| Settings not saving | File permissions; security plugin blocking options API |
